It took me the death of a loved one to make me realise the importance of being healthy. When my father passed away suddenly in early 2008, I was crushed, and it took many months for me to return to my normal self. Even then, my definition of 'normal' has since changed. I am now more appreciative of life and the people around me, and more appreciative of the one thing which many of us take for granted - our HEALTH.
We go to school, then go to work, start a family, and prepare for retirement. People are constantly chasing after wealth. Of course, who can deny, with lots of money you can make many things possible. Money makes the world go round, they say.
But money cannot replace love. It cannot replace the things we do for the people we care about, the daily sacrifices we make and the trust we put in our loved ones. Money cannot replace our very existence on the face of this earth. When my dad passed away, he left us money. But what is his money without him?
The best thing I can do for the people I love is to be there for them. Or should I say, to be HERE for them. To be alive and well. And to do that, I must constantly take care of my health. After all, money cannot hug you when you are feeling down. Money cannot hold your hand when you feel lonely. Money cannot lovingly cook your favorite dishes for you. Money cannot share your joy and tears. But I can. And my health is my wealth, that will accompany me throughout this beautiful journey we call Life which I am sharing with you, the people I love.
